On June 19,1865, enslaved African-Americans in Galveston,Texas were told they were free. This day commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Black people have and will always consider the annual event as a moment to reclaim Black freedom. The Senate just approved a bill to make Juneteenth a national federal holiday, which is a step toward progress.
Here at Community, we proudly stand in recognition of the equality, justice and freedoms that our Black employees, Leaders, Members, and beyond are still fighting for.
